Below you will find a few simple tips to help preserve the beauty of your glass.

Cleaning and Care

All Kodanska products are dishwasher safe. For best results, we recommend using a gentle glass programme at a low temperature. This helps preserve the beauty and clarity of the glass over time.

Avoid Limescale Build-Up

Limescale occurs naturally in water and is one of the most common causes of white marks on glass. It typically develops during dishwashing when the glass is exposed to minerals and detergent residue.

Tips to Prevent Limescale

• Adjust the amount of salt, rinse aid, and detergent according to your local water hardness.
• Wash at a low temperature.
• Use the shortest dishwasher programme when possible.
• Use coarse dishwasher salt for optimal dosing.
• Open the dishwasher when the programme has finished to release excess steam.
• If possible, dry the glasses with a tea towel after washing.
• Avoid storing glasses upside down, as trapped moisture may cause limescale deposits.

If White Marks Appear

Soak the glass overnight in a mixture of water and citric acid or white vinegar.

If the marks disappear, they were caused by limescale and can be prevented by following the recommendations above.

If the marks remain, the glass surface may have been permanently affected by glass corrosion.

Removing Limescale from a Carafe

If limescale has built up inside your carafe, try one of the following methods:

• Fill the carafe with a few spoonfuls of uncooked rice and approximately 200 ml of white vinegar. Shake thoroughly and repeat if necessary.
• Fill the carafe with lemon juice and leave for 8–10 hours. Ensure the affected area is fully covered.
• Mix warm water with 1–2 teaspoons of baking soda and leave overnight.
• Fill the carafe with juice and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. The natural acidity helps reduce limescale build-up.
